Inspired by the virgin auction thread. Is it a case of individual liberty or forced labour through economic necessity? I suspect, although this may not be the case, that those who are in favour of abortion would frown upon prostitution. However, seems to me that the 'choice' principle is applicable to both arguments.

I suspect they for every Billie Piper there are 100 battered and bullied Eastern European girls.

Quite. In the same vein, for every high-class prostitute there's a 1000 drug addicts giving blowjobs for crack....but the diaries of Belle du Jour and her ilk sadly make easier reading.

There are prositutes who may have decided themselves to become prostitutes, but perhaps that isn't much of a decision when they feel it's their only way to feed their habit/kids/keep their pimp happy/pay to get their passport back.
It's not really as simple as 'choosing' to become a prostitute, like 'choosing' to become a lawyer or 'choosing' any other 'career'.

hang on, this thread isn't funny at all...

how much money would you need to put your pet hamster up someone's hole? (he'd be on a string to pull him back out again)

that person has a really massive hand

last night I was eating quick cook paste, this is basically pasta twists that are small, so cook quicker... I was eating this off a large plate, like an oval serving plate, as I had not done the washing up at all... so to recap... small pasta... big plate... net effect=weirdly out of proportion fork!?!?! It looked like I was shovling tons of pasta around a huge plate with a fork as big as a gardening trowl. It was great.

Was reading some interesting stuff about this of late. I believe it's Sweden that has started cracking down on customers after years of tolerance of the industry. Their tactic is to target the punters, not the girls and boys. The Dutch have found that allowing legal prostitution increases the amount of illegal prostitution in an area. That is, the presence of properly run, safe brothels for tax paying escorts and what have you increases the likelihood of not so nice trade.

It's a bizarre thing to legislate in a way because it is something that only become legal/illegal when money is involved. You can give it away for free but you can't sell it in most countries.

Sorry, there was meant to be a Yes/No poll for this but thumped crashed before i posted it. In anyways, I want to know if people agree with a person's right to choose to be a prostitute? Drugs can certainly complicate matters, but does anybody find it morally wrong for a man/woman to willingly, and of sound mind (no drugs), sell themselves for sex?

I think anyone should be allowed to, but regulation would be a smart thing to do.

p.s. is Billie Piper on the game?

If there was a feasible way of legalising prostitution so that the men and women were safe and the criminal aspect was taken out of it.
i really dont see the problem if it is their choice, and they're not being forced into doing it by another person or drug addiction, realisticly these factors will always be involved so it should remain illegal.
what about the clients? would anyone go out with a guy who admits he's been with one?
