Modest Mouse, Midlake, Pavement, Pinback, Minus the Bear, Sonic Youth, Silver Jews, The Dismemberment Plan, Sufjan Stevens, MBV, Tom Waits, Low, SFA, Explosions In The Sky.

Check out C from the Czech Republic, they're touring the UK at the moment i think.
Some of them were in the amazing but sadly overlooked Waawe years back.
Think C and Waawe would be right up your street.

You might like Rivulets. Chicago-based singer-songwriter. Friend of Low. Three albums down the line now though so not that new...but good nonetheless. Like Red House Painters without the cloying self-pity.
