//////////// PRINCESS

“Richly intense, inscrutable and hypnotic… the most intoxicating outfit in rock right now” Q Magazine

“From mind-bending krautrock odyssey to MPV-like” NME

“Wonderfully offbeat… all wit and verve, maturity and inspiration” Clash Magazine

"Sliding from shimmering Sonic Youth-style guitar parts to spiky early aughts post-punk to something resembling motorik twee chamber-pop... fascinating" Stereogum

“Saturated sounds, glistening guitars and a penchant for masterfully constructed songs” Artrocker

Fresh off the road from their 12-date European tour with Ex Hex this month, Princess have released a new video their new single ‘Black Window’, out this March.

Following the success of their previous singles ‘Neverlook’ and ‘Molly’, as well as tour supports with Girl Band, Girls Names, Cloud Nothings and September Girls, the duo have now begun to abandon their shoegaze tendencies for a darker, eerier and more direct sound as displayed on the new release.

Mixing dream-like experimentation with elements of Krautrock, ambient-noise rock and psych-garage, Princess create simple song structures balanced against a sonic rise and fall, and with a firm grounding in melody, rhythm and noise.

New single ‘Black Window’ draws from the minimal repetition of Can with the lilting, psychotic melodies of Silver Apples, cascading into a cacophony of noise that ends with a beautiful, yet uncomfortable, vocal line that alludes to a radio channel being hastily changed. A harsh and unsettling, yet captivating, song that ends as abruptly as it begins.

‘Black Window’ is available now with b-side ‘Sick Ties’ on 5” card wallet CDs and for download from all good digital stores and thatsoprincess.bandcamp.com

////////////THE GREAT BALLOON RACE

"The Great Balloon Race are one of the most exciting bands emerging from Cork for quite some time. I love the feel of their songs-this hidden dimension is tapped into. I see them sharing the spirit of Grizzly Bear, with their mesmerizing song cycles of progressive harmonies and immaculate arrangements. ‘Pockets’ is sublime. The song builds with multi-layered harmonies, percussion and gorgeous guitar tones. ‘Grog’ is a divine jazz exploration that echoes Tortoise. I simply can’t wait for their debut album, to be released in a few weeks time. A truly great band." - FRACTURED AIR
