why wouldn't it be the xfm on 107.9 ? assuming it is them, I hope they get the licence .
me too actually. they'd keep it more alternative than led zep and bellx1, not that there's anything wrong with led zep mind...

it is xfm london indeed.
the *real* xfm didn't bother applying again, complete waste of time.
daves opinion is that it will come down to xfm london and phantoms bid, they is the big money ones.

whats cool is that we own www.xfmdublin.com
we'll sell it to them in return for giving us all jobs if they get it, hoo haa haa!!!!

does 'we' mean xfm in dublin?

i hope they dont, 'cos then they would have to play Paddy Casey and all that stuff, thats what Phontom was there for.

BTW why am I listening to repeats on xfm that are over 1 year old?
Great stuff though!!

Hello all,

There were 5 applications in total. They get considered by the BCI on September 6th and then a few will get shortlisted to make public presentations in October. Probably a decision in December or so.

Heres the list:

Phantom FM - sell-out bastards that we are.
XFM - Joint venture between XFM Londons owners Capital PLC and UTV (who own Q102 etc)
Radio Eleven - Main man is Dave Kavanagh, former Clannad Manager.
RAW FM - Backed by Communicorp (Denis O Briens company) that owns 98, Newstalk, half of Spin etc.
ZED FM - Backed by Niall Stokes of Hot Press and former Chief Executive of FM104, Dermot Hanrahan.

For those interested, you will be able to read the applications online from next Tuesday or see them in real life in the ILAC library.

Cheers,

Pete

ZED FM - Backed by Niall Stokes of Hot Press and former Chief Executive of FM104, Dermot Hanrahan.

wasn't Niall stokes on the original quango (can't remember its' proper title) that started all this radio licence thingemummy a coupla years ago?. no doubt whoever gets it it will be thru skullduggery than the considered best option.Who the fuck ever came up with the idea that radio stations have to have shareholders, earn profits etc.?one prerequisite should be no midatlantic accents on any DJ's or the licence is immediately revoked (or cork accents for that matter, or that whiny bitch mock californian twang you hear on the 46A,that would be loike sooo totally barred.)
