All I remember from that gig is everyone going “what the fuck that’s not chuck schuldinger” when Death played. My memory for gigs is really poor. I just listened to Alan Averill's podcast. He was talking about the recent Kreator , Anthrax & Testament gig in the point. He mentioned seeing Kreator in the top hat in 1990. I was at it as well, but can't remember a thing about it.
True but still, I liked the albums around that period. I saw them at ATP in 2000, one of the worst gigs I’ve ever seen. They were past it by then
Where did you see Hijokaidan? Just being nosey.... I remember clear noise warnings at a Hijokaidan gig years ago so I'm presuming that must have been the loudest I've been to but I had ear plugs and stayed back so it didn't seem that bad...
At a festival in Glasgow, 2005 I thinkWhere did you see Hijokaidan? Just being nosey.
What?definitely asking people to repeat themselves more often now.
I saw them at Witnness(?) around then and they were a bit shit. Then I saw them when Sonic Nurse came out, they supported The Chemical Brothers in Marley Park and they were incredible. The crowd was all ravers and dance heads but they drank up the guitar noise.True but still, I liked the albums around that period. I saw them at ATP in 2000, one of the worst gigs I’ve ever seen.
Should have gone to that too. Ah well.I saw them at Witnness(?) around then and they were a bit shit. Then I saw them when Sonic Nurse came out, they supported The Chemical Brothers in Marley Park and they were incredible. The crowd was all ravers and dance heads but they drank up the guitar noise.
SY opened with a brand new 23-minute sonic assault, “J’Accuse Ted Hughes” (then titled “New Drone” and later to appear as side 1 of SYR 7) and the band performed the bulk of the soon-to-be released “NYC Ghosts & Flowers”. “Free City Rhymes” and “Renegade Princess” were played instrumentally. Kim sang “Nevermind” and “Side2Side”, Lee sang “NYC Ghosts & Flowers”. The encore was “Lightnin” and “Sunday”.
This was the gig that spawned the fabled NME headline “Goodbye 20th Century, Goodbye Talent”!
I saw them at Marley Park too. They were class that day. Also saw them at Sunstroke in Dalymount in 93. That was a superb performance.I saw them at Witnness(?) around then and they were a bit shit. I was at dalymount. All I remember about them was they kept throwing their guitars over the stage and fishing them back with the guitar cables. Most of the audience probably weren't too impressed.I saw them at Marley Park too. They were class that day. Also saw them at Sunstroke in Dalymount in 93. That was a superb performance.
Still at it in Marley Park years later.I was at dalymount. All I remember about them was they kept throwing their guitars over the stage and fishing them back with the guitar cables. Most of the audience probably weren't too impressed.
Only Thurston did that with his guitar. The feed back was cool. I loved it. Couldn't tell you if it was a good gig because it was my first one (June 1993).I was at dalymount. My oldest brother saw them in SFX years ago. He said a friend of his passed out during the chord from hell bit because of the volume. Didn’t actually think that was possibleI saw MBV in 2009 in when they did ATP. Even with earpluds (handed out by staff before the gig) it was physically hard to stand close to the stage. You could almost feel the waves of sound pushing you back, which was impressive but bizzare.
