FWIW the fancy office is gone - since the pandemic pretty much everyone works at home, so when the lease came up for renewal (sometime in the last year) they let it lapse, and moved Legal (the only people who need an actual office) to somewhere much smaller. Haven't seen the new place, and I guess it's unlikely I ever willAlso the [Wikimedia] Foundation is big now. And I think that some people, even if they don't admit it, hold some jealousy and resentment that there's this fancy office in San Francisco.
2024 Current State of the Union: US Federal Budget
The US has had a budget deficit every year since at least 1980 except 1998-2001. Their current deficit is $1.7 trillion. In that context it's not surprising that a lot of them hate Big Government ... though in fairness if they were willing to pay a bit more tax the deficit would be lower I guess
