Lauren Guillery and the Claws

'Lauren Guillery burst onto the Irish music scene seemingly out of
nowhere, fully-formed and ready to rock. Armed with a red guitar (…)
and an unstoppable attitude, she powered her way through the open-mic
circuit and onto the stages of some of Ireland's most prestigious
clubs.

Her performances instantly stand out amongst the crowd of shy and
retiring female-fronted players. Her performances are full of
confidence as she delivers her songs with an 'I dare you' stare as she
hammers away at her guitar.

Whether playing with her band or solo, Guillery commands attention.
Her voice is instantly arresting, a blend of Tori Amos and Kate Bush
but with a built-in rock snarl that demands you stop and listen. Her
debut EP is aptly entitled 'Listen!' and the four tracks here snake
their way into your mind, with their insidious melodies, building rock
crescendos and raw passion.'

MPInferno

Formerly known as The Jesus Foetus, now the tastefully titled
Mongolian Porn Inferno are a 3 piece instrumental rock band from
Dublin and have been playing together for a number of years on and
off. In early 2006 MPInferno assembled in the studios to work on what
will be their first self released 6 track EP entitled Long Time No Sea
Bass. With the aim to play some gigs and progress as a band and
continue to confound people with absurd album titles.

Medea

Medea is a Dublin based three-piece comprising of Edel Coffey (guitar
and vocals), Mary Carton (bass and vocals) and Lynn Millar (drums).
Since they formed in 2003 they have developed a sparse, melodic sound
which has been likened to bands such as Joy Division, The Breeders and
Sleater-Kinney. All three women share songwriting duties and are due
to release their first album at some as yet unspecified future date.
Medea have played several gigs throughout Ireland in the last year,
including an IMRO showcase and a set at Dublin Ladyfest where they
were praised for their quality sound and engaging stage presence. In
January the band was hailed by Hot Press as one to watch out for in
2005. "There's an insistent brooding quality about the Medea sound,
that's leavened with shafts of light and beauty" Niall Stokes, Hot
Press
