It was her cover of Don't Make Me Over that won me over

Only listened to her yesterday for the first time, got that Loud City Songs lp, but wow, beautiful stuff. Definitely will grab the new one.

She played this last night and it was terrific. I didn't know it but knew it has to be a cover. Just looked it up last night - lovely song. Great gig too btw.

She was fantastic.

I was hoping for a few more bars of 'Stay'. Low do an amazing cover of that!

Yeah that was really enjoyable. Was a bit worried after the first couple of her tunes that it'd fall flat - quietest sell-out crowd I'd ever seen at that venue, plus Julia herself initially seemed laid-back to the point of indifference.. It got going very nicely though once they warmed up a bit and broke out a couple of the more epic tunes. Lucette on the Island and Vasquez were highlights for me. That double-bass player had some fantastically fierce muso faces, kind of an amusing contrast between Julia gazing off serenely into some dreamscape and him gurning ferociously over her shoulder.

I don't think those first couple of songs were planned. Particularly the first one, which she played to give the viola player time to fix whatever issues she was having with her equiptment.

Yer wan seemed to be having techie issues most of the evening I thought?
Highlight for me was when Julia's hair fell down.
I think a few lads lost their shit at that point!
