Jesus Lizard recommendations????! (1 Viewer)

Shot is a great album, tho' some might argue it's production is too clean....Not Albini, maybe G-g-Garth? It sounds really muscular and Yow's trademark derangement is intact.

Liar is also pretty decent. Has Puss, the song that was on a Nirvana split single. Nirvana contributed Oh the guilt.

I never really got into Goat, must give it another listen.

Anyone know what Yow or any of the rest of the band are up to these days?

I have Goat which i am rather fond of.
What else should i get my grubby lil paws on?

Goat is my absolute favourite.
Unbelievable album.
Does so much in under 30 minutes.

In fact i think they're all amazing.
Except Blue.
Andy Gill made a real dog's dinner of the production.

Go for Liar next.
Or Head.

Yow is in Qui.
Pretty cool.

Denison is still in Tomahawk, yeah?
Never really got in to them.

Sims played bass with Sparklehorse here a few years back.
Weird but true

Head/Pure is the first thing I got by 'em and is still my favourite.

Yow is in a ok band called Qui, and Duane Denison is in a crap band called U.S.S.A.

yeah, it's that ggGarth guy.
i don't mind the production on it at all, it's still a brilliant album.
Skull of a German, Blue Shot, Too Bad About The Fire, Mailman...

Some of Yow's best lyrics on that one.

I like the brown album. The one with Boiler Maker on it?
Have a version of that song from a peel session on cassette that is way better than the one on the album.
For some reason their production no the two albums I have doesn't really do it for me.

Would've love to have seen them live.

Goat is such a good album
i haven't listened to this band in so many years

criminally underlooked band: Shorty
sounds like the lizard / van halen - completely deranged
2 guys from us maple were in them

Buy all the touch and go - first four albums.Duane Denison is the greatest guitarist ever.
Definitely get their first album 'Head' whatever you do; has 'Pastoral', which Rachels covered too. Flawless record. 'Destroy before reading' would be a favourite of mine - 'I'd soak a towel like a satelite - a ti-ti-tight!!' ,particularily the end of the song -serious goosebumps moment.

'Ma-ma-ma-make me anothe boiler-maker!'

Basically get these two, no matter what

Also check out the 'Yow'7" by Killdozer, he's not on it but still...

"Mingus and Parker, Fuck for breakfast!"

'Cuz jazz is a slut again! And jazz is a slut again! jazz is a slut again!'

Yow singing it seriously fast. Oh yeah, here come the goosebumps. Jaysus, I'm sticking that on when I knock home in a few minutes...

Bang. I  this, know its a compilation of ep's and such like, but its really brill:
Songs: Chrome (3:50) / 7 Vs 8 (3:32) / Gladiator (4:00) / Seasick (3:12) / Wheelchair Epidemic (2:10) / Dancing Naked Ladies (3:01) / Mouth Breather (2:15) / Sunday You Need Love (2:44) / Glamorous (3:03) / Deaf As A Bat (1:37) / Lady Shoes (2:36) / Killer McHann (2:09) / Bloody Mary (2:40) / Monkey Trick (4:32) / Uncommonly Good (2:47) / The Test (2:36) / Blockbuster (3:31) / Fly On The Wall (2:52) / White Hole (3:19) / Anna (2:38)

Blockbuster

Ah... Blockbuster. When me and my Gav had a band in school we used to play some covers. I used to sing Blockbuster. One time my typical old skool rural Ireland mammy came to see us.

Me: 'Do you think you'd like to have a blockbuster up your ass? Do ya think you'd like that? Do ya? MOTHERFUCKER!!!'

Great days :)
