Fire, damage, theft, acts of God...the usual things. Is it easily done? Are there insurance companies who speciailise, if so who do people use?

Any advice would be great.

I have 2 guitars insured under the house insurance.

It's worth looking into. I had a guitar stolen from Dolans in Limerick about...3 years ago, a Les Paul. I already hated Limerick so that really was the icing on the cake. I went to the Garda station in Henry st. They were fine, but a stolen guitar is the least of they're priorities in that kip. Anyway I contacted the insurance company and they sent someone out. I told them what had happened. A few days later I got a letter and a cheque. I was surprised... and delighted because the guitar was not stolen from the house. But it was the first and only time I've ever made a claim, so maybe that stood for something. I bought another Les Paul second hand and had almost €900 left over.

All I can say is don't leave your equipment in venues.

yeah i had 7/8 guitars put on the house insurance recently and it actually added very little to the premium. some insurance companies can be weird about guitars and laptops though, so check.
