> Pass this on to everyone in your address book.> >> This household tax is a statute, otherwise known as an act of government, and only carries the force of law upon you if you consent to it.>> >> Understand this: a statute is a ''legislated rule of society given the force of law by the consent of the governed.'' (Black's Law Dictionary 4th edition). Who are those it governs? Us, the public.>> >> Which means that you are legally obliged to pay if you consent. Or, in other words, go on to householdcharge.ie and register. Your silence and inaction will also give the appearance of no consent.>> >> If you do not consent, a statute cannot affect you in any way whatsoever. The courts know this and the last thing they will do is tell you. In fact they will hide this from you at every opportunity they can.>> >> On the other hand, if you tell them, they will accept it because they know it is actually true. According to the above definitions a statutory instrument is a contract. If you register for this tax you are consenting to this statute ie: signing the contract.>> >> This is why the Government are ASKING the people to register and not just billing them instead.>> >> Know your rights.

edit: scutter got there before me

"The fake 'advice' contained in this email is not only wrong but is dangerous as well. In the next 4 weeks 1.7 million householders will decide whether or not to register. The majority of these will make the decision to refuse to register and make a stand in solidarity with their neighbours against this unjust tax.People who refuse to register are committing an offence and could be liable to prosecution so it is important that they do so with proper information. The fact that they will be committing that 'offence' in the company of hundreds of thousands of other people and that we can stand in solidarity with each other is our only defence.
Those who don’t register could be liable, under the legislation, for a fine of up to €2,500. But this is not an automatic fine. Under the legislation people who don’t register have to be brought to court and have a case proved against them that they did not register. "

Oh right. I just got this morning & it has timed in with learning to use copy & paste: it seemed convincingly worded and plausible - obviously not. Just goes to show you doesn't it - you can't believe everything from pressure groups/campaigns, or is it being deliberately put out to fuck non payment campaign up? Anyways i gotta go mail all those I sent it to saying it's a load of ballix now

Just because the conspiracy nuts say so doesn't mean you can't still not register and not pay.

Why do people construct and propagate shit like that? Do they actually believe their semantic sleight of hand will keep them from being punished? You get a lot of freeman bullshit online, sad to see it infecting Irish political discourse.
