Was just thinking. Trap seems entrenched in "the system" right now. He's spoken a lot about it in interviews. Presumably if Ireland did come back he'd be a bit more flexable with things and wouldn't just stick him on the right at hte expense of one of Duffer/McGeady.

Would think that with the limited talent available to him Trap wants to make the best of what he has so thinks 2 holding players is a better bet than having one and a more forward thinking type who can't really cut it just because he's the only one available.

play him up top, off the striker. five man midfield when we're holding, 4 attackers on the break, etc. honestly, drop either doyle or keane, or better still both, and i don't think we'd look any less than we are.

I don't understand your problem with our two best performers in this campaign, especially our all-time leading scorer who just scored a late equaliser in Italy and has bagged 4 in these qualifiers already. What have they done wrong?

To be honest, I think I'd go for a three man attack, with Doyle playing deep and Folan nodding down to Keane and Doyle.

As for Ireland, after he does a stint as team mascot, I'd have him centre mid all on his own. Duffer and McGeady on the wings.
