Or just purchase Kick Out The Jams and listen to it on headphones whilst watching people jump around at one of those *hilarious* 70s nights.
It'll be like an At The Drive In gig every weekend.

should have tried the many kids who had tickets but couldn't get in due to to being underage.....

Murder City Devils rocked!

spud you didn't miss anything. at the drive-in were all very 'let's everyone take care of each other' and 'thank you for helping us be punk rock' but it's pretty obvious that, as a band, they throw up some pretty serious ethical questions.

also the sound was a big load of bollocks.. absolutely atrocious.. and even though they were flopping about the place, you could see that they had the energy sapped out of them by 10 weeks of touring.

you never really realise how much of a debt their songs owe to stadium rock, or how badly the two guitarists can actually sing...

and they fucking love their delay pedals.

i tried sound cellar and i also tried those little underage kids, but i still couldnt get ne. Aye i just read a big old debate about the "ethical2 questions surrounding AT THE DRIVE IN in some american zine (heart attack) but yeah murder city devils would have been good.

I dotn mind bands selling out if that has alwasy been their prime objective, by this i am mainly talkin about bands like JJ72 who are in fuckin overload now, it reminds me of the sterophonics a few motnhs ago when they could do no wrong. But many of these bands are set up to be commercial it only annoys me when bands slag commercial bands and then themselves become commerical. If ya wanna be commerical be commercial, but dont be a hypocrite and calim that u dont want to be on a major when u would jump at the oppurtunity.

they really sucked that much??gald they sold out tickets soo,but the murder city deils would have been class!!!
green day was the best fucking gig i was ever
at probably!! (awaits the "commercial, sell outs,
theyre shite comments!!"),they didnt play like
they were sellouts, they were class,a lot
better to bands like at the drive in who
arent considered sellouts!! green days new
album is shite though in fairness(i didnt buy it).
the amount of so called punks there, none of
which go to the gigs always on !!
cya.

mmm, an interesting trend over the past year is that the inkies have gotten tired of trying to make out that anything of interest is going on in britain (in an easily saleable bite-size buzz-word kinda way) so consequently ATDI, queens of the stone age, Goddam you slack motherfuckers etc. have been getting so many column inches, only for that these gigs would be strictly 30 heads watching them in doyles or somewhere wondering if they're any good or not.

that trend is part of a larger problem for the weekly rags. they've continued to lose readers over the last five years to the point where they sell about half of what they did in 1995 (and melody maker sells about half of what the nme does, which i think is around 120,000 copies a week). consequently, they've lost their ability (perceived or otherwise) to 'make', or indeed 'break', bands. if these bands are popular, it's not because they're being written about in the nme. the nme is writing about them because they're popular, and they need to sell magazines. it's almost beside the point if these bands are good or not. what i'm more concerned about is are these bands a constructive starting point for some fourteen year old kid picking up the nme for the first time? can they move on from there (atdi, qotsa, whoever) to something with more 'substance'? (and chickenham, while i'm at it, i reckon godspeed are pretty much skyscrapers above both atdi and qotsa. maybe you'd like them better if they weren't in the nme and you were one of 30 heads wherever watching them change your life ;-)

i happen to like both atdi and queens of the stone age and if thats what kids are getting into then nice one...
beats green day despite whatever drugs bogpunker is on when he listens to them...
and the time will never ever come when the world listens to a staple diet of boredom members side projects...
that only happens when you die.....

Good aren't they?

Murder City Devils rule ass!! If you like them you should check out the other Hopskotch Records stuff...it's what all the kids in the States are listening to (heh)...

I think that ATDI still rock...I've only got their in/CASINO/OUT album from a few years back, but I've heard their other ones too and still listen to that on a regular basis...but come, on those afro toting muthas have defo sold out...the new Nirvana indeed...I liked them first, I liked them first!
