“One of the biggest Swedish pop-hopes for 2008.” – Metro, Sweden
“Five young guys that leap over the threshold to the same post-rock quarters as Explosions In The Sky, Logh, and Sigur Rós.” – Groove Magazine
Swedish instrumental rock band Immanu El make moving, multi-dynamic music that can swell into big emotional sound-bursts or quiver with bristling calm melodies. Their 2007 debut album They’ll Come, They Come brought them underground acclaim, inspiring many to tip Immanu El to follow in the foot-steps of Sigur Ros and Explosions on the Sky.
Immanu El began as a musical experiment by sixteen year-old Claes Strängberg in 2003. He was later joined by his twin brother Per and some high-school friends. The following year they started to create atmospheric pop music heavily influenced by post-rock, in an old barn outside the town of Jönköping, Sweden. Their demo records sold out and the word about Immanu El started to spread giving the band a chance to play shows all over southern Sweden supporting acts like Logh and Loney, Dear.
Following a visit to Reykjavík and some media publicity Immanu El were given the opportunity to play the Hultsfred Rookie festival in 2005. This show became some of a “breakthrough” for the band. Their second release, Killerwhale EP also sold out.
After doing some live shows and touring with artists such as Sigur Rós and Ef, Immanu El struck a deal with And The Sound records. In August of 2007 they released their full-length debut, They'll Come, They Come.
Highly recommended for fans of Sigur Rós, Ef, and Gregor Samsa.
