Fontaines DC (2 Viewers)

On some level I guess I just don't get caring about something that you don't care for

Like I don't care for Love Island or the music of Ed Sheeran or the ongoing deluge of horror films - all these popular things that a lot of other people seem to put great store in

I just leave them be, if it's not good, it's kinda not interesting
It's interesting as to why they're popular, but I don't get openly railing against them

I may be reading it wrong, but a lot of posters here seem to think it important to have a declared position on the musical output of the Fontaines.
And "It's not for me, thanks" won't cut it.
Like the terrain of the hatred for these guys must be described.
Like this need to have a public position on a band. It seems like something 20-somethings do.

Just a weird thing to want to complain about.
I don't really bother with this thread as I have no opinion worth sharing about fontaines. But 44 pages!

I like it
It makes me bop along when I'm biking
And I like his little snarl. Reminds me of being 30 and vulnerable and disguising it with toughness.

In a "Why ask your head, it's your hips that are swinging" kinda way

My actual hips aren't swinging. It's a metaphor in thsi case.

Great that you like it. That doesn't make it "undeniably" good though.

That’s not bad at all.

The last one was the worst thing I heard in ages and this is actually dare I say decent?
Very jangly 80s vibe from it

Yeah
Sounds like a peppier Whipping Boy to me
Or I'm just thinking of that 90s era Dublin bands in general

Still think Starburster is a banger
They are clearly excited about this record

Better than I would have expected. His accent sounds a bit more English though… I wonder is he just one of those people who immediately pick up the accent of where they are rather than it being an affectation?

I've read how he feels he can't truly comment on Dublin and Ireland now because he feels he's been away so long and so forth, like he's singing about New York and London on his solo record.

That video is quite pointedly made in Madrid. So they're defo spreading their wings.

But I feel that also they really stepped on the accent hard on the first record, as a way to distinguish themselves. While having no proof of this.

It's a nice song. But if that was their first ever single it wouldn't appear on the radar at all. So DMP has a point I think re their Dub-a-lin thing.
