Flat Hunting (1 Viewer)

from what i can gather, it's a renters market at the moment, so don't be afraid to haggle on price. there are a ton of empty apartments around. also, if you're willing to move out from town a little you can get much bigger and nicer places for the same rent as a box in the city. we're out in ashtown, less than 15 minutes into town by train, and the apartment is more than twice the size of our old place off pearse st.

daft.ie is always a decent jumping off point

I'm not sure if this still works, but a few years back we decided to try the Herald as well as Daft. We found that landlords who still aren't aware of Daft have no idea how much to charge. We nearly ended up in this porn palace type place but it didn't quitge work out. Then we found this deadly gaff in Portobello. Neither advertised on Daft, both for way under the odds.

This was about three years ago though.

I don't think i've ever bought an Evening Herald. Today might be the day. I'll buy it off that guy across from the international.

I got a place through the herald about 3 yrs ago too, i'm not they do it any more though.
make sure you google the place, i came pretty close to moving into an ex drug den, i knew the girl who moved in and she kept getting people knocking, forgetting there was new tenents there.

ooh good idea eggman! We's gonna be renting soon too, so we might do that. Then show up with our kids: "haha, joke's on you, landlord!"

Don't tell me you've fallen foul of the credit crunch?
Or have you sold to gaf to finance the new LP/world tour?.|..|

it's getting crowded in our place

I think we might be neighbours...I've seen you around ...or something less creepy.:)

You might not have to go too far if it is the case. Seems to be lot's of nice places for rent around here.

Happy hunting anyway.

Cormy: We moved in here about 6 months ago and argued down the price considerably so it's defo worth trying.

Don't live in a basement. Get your own entire house if you can, even if it's small. Having your own house is always cooler than having an apartment. Failing that, get a top floor flat.

Try to avoid estate agents altogether, they cost money but don't add value.

Always ask about the heating. It's the biggest bill.
