Re: final batch of electric picnic names

Its not what ye know, its who ye know. Its how the bizmess works.

It's not just the bizmess, it's everything, and most of the time it's no harm - I'd be much more likely to do one of you mooks a favour than I would some random stranger (even the ones of yiz I hardly know)

Not particularly. One of them dj's to trendy saps but they're both nice popular but hipstery lads

Jaysus dude, don't be so bitter. They're good guys with good tunes and a very professional set-up - even if they haven't gigged all that much. Plus what they do will slot neatly in with a lot of what else is on that particular day.

Not bitter, clearly, just pointing out that it's all about who you know and I gave them credit aswell

BODY & SOUL AT ELECTRIC PICNIC
BACK once again, with its trademark twisting wonderland of bespoke stages, handpicked installations, quirky corners and hidden alcoves, BODY&SOUL is set to light up its place as the central creative beacon of Electric Picnic for the ninth year in a row.

Body&Soul’s Main Stage fresh musical programme wouldn’t stand up without a close inspection of what's what musically in Ireland at present, along with a healthy serving of debut performances from up-and-coming acts and “ones to watch” from around the World. Enjoying a long-standing reputation of staging a mix of the proven, common, inventive and new, means that national and international live acts and DJs put their groove on in sparkling form, for a wide audience of music lovers and party people.

Artists include: Andy Irvine, Donal Lunny, Liam O’Flynn and Paddy Glackin aka LAPD, Paul Buchanan, When Saints Go Machine, Junior Boys, Breton, Junior Boys, RocketNumberNine, Jesse Boykins III, DENA, The Spook of the Thirteenth Lock, Zemi 17, Mmoths, Laura Sheeran, TR-One, Orchestra of Spheres, Dark Dark Dark, SertOne, Young Wonder, Kodaline, New Jackson, Ham Sandwich, February&Mars, Lewis Floyd Henry, Viperflo and Romare.

Body&Soul is delighted to welcome to its Main Stage for 2012, an exclusive performance by the Irish traditional group and true masters of their craft – Andy Irvine, Donal Lunny, Liam O’Flynn and Paddy Glackin aka LAPD. Irvine, Lunny and O’Flynn played together 30 years ago under the guise of Planxty (with Christy Moore). With stellar solo careers for all four in the interim fast forward to 2012 with Paddy Glackin upping the ante this performance promises to have the natural amphitheatre of Body and Soul packed to the rafters – if it had a rafter!

We’re also looking forward to an intimate solo show from Scottish singer and Blue Nile main man Paul Buchanan. Fans got a chance to see Paul at Liss Ard festival earlier this month in the intimate acoustic tent so if you missed him then this will be your last opportunity to catch a rare solo performance from this gentle unassuming legend who is sure to mesmerise and enchant the audience with his back catalogue and treat them to songs from his highly acclaimed new solo album Mid Air.

Another headline debut performance set to widen the imagination is set to come from Danish electronic ice-cold pop ensemble When Saints Go Machine – their shows this year have featured at the higher end of the wow! factor across the World.

The internationally regarded Junior Boys bring their glacial pop sheen to Body&Soul, while from Minnesota we look forward to introducing the group Dark Dark Dark and their mix of Orleans jazz & Americana folk. From New Zealand, check out the psychedelic offerings of the unique Orchestra of Spheres and from closer to home in the UK we bring back the intense atmospheric rhythms of RocketNumberNine. We’re also looking forward to welcoming from London, the highly regarded Breton, combining elements of post-rock and straight-up electro. Also with a worldly nod to soul and current hip hop trends we welcome US singer/performer Jesse Boykins lll, the distorted urban blues of Lewis Floyd Henry and Bulgarian new kid DENA.

Our Main Stage programme wouldn’t stand up without a close inspection of what's what musically in Ireland at present - starting that roll call with UK based Seamus Fogarty and with one of the best records of 2012. Continuing that trend and the folk theme but with a punch, we welcome Dublin's The Spook of the Thirteenth Lock and the capital’s groove merchants Kodaline, recently signed to RCA records.

Salon du Chat reprise their unique “speed-debating” salon of gourmet conversation chosen from a menu of provocative menu options. Engage in intense dialogue with complete strangers, make new friends and influence people.

The Cáca Milis Cabaret closes Friday night with its rambunctious “postmodern vaudeville” blend of music, dance, spoken word, circus clownery and classic cabaret and the Bradd Pitt Light Orchestra close Saturday and Sunday’s Leviathan proceedings.

do pod still promote the picnic? actually, do pod still exist? reading on boards the noel gallagher punters are getting shook down on their way into marlay park. i remember my first time at the picnic in '08. on the friday me & my wife walked towards the music area early enough after putting our tent up. at a cross roads a scottish security woman was giving out to a bunch of people pointing them where to go, where not to go, we just walked past her down some lane. we ended up walking behind the inflatable church. felt a bit odd. anyway, we saw a gap in the fence and popped into the main area. a few other people must have done something similar, as there was a bout half a dozen confused looking people just wandering around the entire site. we ended up being the only 2 people when the first band came on the main stage. cant remember their name now, some kind of vaudeville outfit. they were good craic.

anyway, the next year it pissed down for 3 days so i never went back. i hope the cure are good for anyone who goes to see them. do they play any of the '79 stuff anymore? that's my favourite cure.

aitken rather than POD I think it was. But I don't think its them anymore. I think its a separate company thats part owned by aitken/POD and now part owned by MCD. Hence having loads of shite on like the killers and the vaccines.

POD do still exist alright. Fairly bare looking website though.
