That's more like it, Howth would be good. And everyone out there is middle-upper class so no danger of being shat upon. The zoo is out, can't think of a grimmer place to visit. Are you in a bad mood Jane?
Cunts everywhere sean. Not just Dublin.I like Dublin too.
It's full of cunts though. There's loads of dickheads in Howth too btw, but you won't have to talk to them.
The thing is, I very rarely get abuse when passing strangers. Maybe my appearance is beyond ridicule, I don't know.I desperately want to like Dublin, but it's like trying to be friends with a junkie. No matter how many decent qualities he or she has, you're never quite comfortable, and you're still going to end up out of pocket and with a black eye.

bit harsh Jane, in fairness. I apologise for the assholes who made you feel bad, but (cue Ronnie Drew voice) Dublin's great, my Dublin.I desperately want to like Dublin, but it's like trying to be friends with a junkie. Seriously, that's harsh.most of the good things about Dublin are really coping mechanisms for dealing with the otherwise hostile undercurrent that runs through the city.

It's not 'the assholes who made me feel bad'.
This place is a shitehole. A shitehole with some positive aspects, but still a shitehole. And how long do I have to live here before I'm entitled to a negative opinion about it?
Maims - If art's yr thang, there's an exhibition of impressionist paintings on in the National Gallery in Merrion Square. Highly recommended.
I moved up here from Cork in May 2001.
Nice one.
"most of the good things about Dublin are really coping mechanisms for dealing with the otherwise hostile undercurrent that runs through the city"
- I think that's about as reasoned as a Kevin Myers article.
Sorry if you've had a few bad encounters or whatever but I just don't think of Dublin like that. Don't understand it at all.
Are you talking about town? I can perhaps see some sort of point, as all walks of life in the city are packed into a tiny area for their entertainment, shopping, drinking, etc. It can be a bit intimidating in certain places at certain times. But everyday life, just going about your business?
Cork people always complain about Dublin and its indigent junkies.
