More or less natural/clear - ruby shellac on the body, and clear for the neck. Might do the headstock red

3 pots(volume, bass cut, treble cut), 2 switches (pickup selector and coil split) and the output jack.
In the last build with this body template I put the output on the side, which meant it didn’t sit on your lap very well

Full dress rehearsal. All good functionally/playability wise apart from two highish frets, and potentially a bit more shaping on the neck.

Sealing/pumicing and grain filling done. Quick rub of white spirits before finishing starts

Finishing the neck. I filled the woodworm tracks with black filler - looks interesting if nothing else.

its come out fairly well. Only current point of unhappiness is the back of the headstock where I should have been more thorough in my sanding. I found the maple to be a chore to work with in terms of how hard it is, but it looks great not other than that.

i bought a fucking enormous lathe and i'm making eggcups on it.

Where did you buy this fucking enormous lathe?
I have never used a lathe. Something about me apparently says "don't let him use a lathe". Both teachers in school and people in work.

I want to mess about with one.

Bought it secondhand. Chap who used to be in a woodturning chapter I'm in was selling it.

They're very safe machines to use. The cutting implement doesn't move; the wood does.
