I think it’s cooked. May have some touch ups on the fret board edge when I take the masking tape off.

And this worked quite well. First time to try two finishes (clear and tinted shellac) side by side..

Less difficult than I expected to be honest. I did the fret board first, masking the neck, then masked the fretboard allowing a tiny overlap, then did the neck. Shellac dries very quickly, so running/wicking is less of an issue than with other finishes.

Done. I’ve a fret to level and some adjustments, and a bit of filing on the tailpiece.
Oh and a 4th string…

i was telling a chap i know from the woodturning about the guitar i was making; he was showing interest as he plays guitar, so i was showing him progress over the last couple of months, telling him it was for a friend. it was only after i gave colin the guitar that we realised he played in the same band as colin.

Yeah, turned out very nicely in terms of sound and playability. Nice crisp sound acoustically, and warm vaguely jazzy tones amplified. I’ve a bass cut switch on a push pull which adds a bit of variability, gives a pseudo bridge pickup tone.

Action, intonation and allignment about as good as I can get with the overall design, so I’ve pinned the bridge. And an alternative knob choice to two other ones I had in my box of bits

Neck completed, in terms of major woodwork.
Best one so far, largely due to having an actual vice, but also through learning from past fuckups.
I did make the headstock too small. Brain fart + jigsaw moment

I do like a big headstock, and was planning one for this guitar, but made the cuts from the nut up to where it widens out to long, then tapered it to much.
