I think the music is grand, and she's brilliant, buuuuut I find her actual diction when singing really off putting. It's the modern pop way, it seems, but this affected wobbly jawness/half slurring does me head in. Don't be afraid of a consonant.
Pity, cos her tone is lovely, just the phrasing ain't for me.

I was working in admin in a psychiatric hospital at that time, and I also remember this time. It was....I dunno. I'm a clerk, and basically a large child, and I'm having these conversations with widows and orphans in the phone. At least weekly. It became normal to us. Formative, maybe.

So, musically speaking, that's a hard hitting lyric to me. And true.
