men (all us including me) have such potential for mistreating women that
i often think -
why do women bother with relationships with men at all ?

i'm OK - but not as the most important person in someone's life.

it always bugs me how often TV shows non consensual behaviour as being normal:

e.g. a couple kissing for the first time simultaneously without any consent or warning
is often presented as being normal on soaps, adverts, kids TV etc.

the way romance is shown on channels like Nickelodeon seems bizarre -
e.g. a boy writes a song about a girl he likes, sings it at the school talent show,
afterwards she tells him she loved the song and they walk off together holding hands !

more unrealistic than porn.

I wouldn't say 'happily', and not by 'all of us'. I've certainly never enjoyed having to listen to all the horrible shit men say and do to women while being told misogyny isn't a thing, including at great length and with vehemence on this forum for years and years and years.

Fair enough. I can't argue with that.

I guess I meant it and shit like it went in the magazine, we bought the magazines and the records. Blind eyes were turned, things were allowed. There's an implicit acceptance.

For what it's worth, I was never a fan really, my teenage self thought it was shock value over The Music maaaaann. It was just the only metal you might see on TV back then.

They thing I liked about Marilyn Manson was the music videos.
Really cool looking. So stylized. Kudos to the directors.

I saw them support Iron Maiden. Didn't like them. The only songs that stand out are the covers, of which there are loads. They had an interesting stage show, with costumes and stilt walkers. Think a goth/sex offender version of MACNAS.

Someone somwhere at this point must be able to put together a simple equation around

(amount of money) x (social reach of medium) = Number of creeps likely to turn up

Church:

(endless cash reserves) x (33% of western world) = loads of creeps

Films

(millions per year) x (blanket cineman and tv coverage) = loads of creeps

Music

(millions per year pre internet) x (stadiums full of people) = loads of creeps

Twitter

(influencer fortunes) x (millions of folllowers) = loads of creps

aldi checkout

(living wage) x (nobody really remembers your name) = not too many creeps.

Obvs this needs work but there is a pattern around any social power/money structure.

Well that was quite a thing to read.
'kin hell...

I'm sure I thought the same at the time, but then it was like "this is what super rich and famous dudes get up to, they can get away with calling it art". If that makes any sense.

That was an awful performance, I was really disappointed as I had been a fan. But he had gone off the boil at that point anyway, goth karaoke band.
