BREXIT (5 Viewers)

brits coming over taking our jobs eh?

hmmmmmm

time for new immigration restrictions i'd say
I imagine there are a lot of Irish academics working in the UK who will see this as a reason to go home. Hopefully they decide to do this after I have secured a position of my own here.

Spoke to a somewhat embedded man who lives in england and deals with some of the people who float around these things

he says it'll be a load of theresa may acting tough to retain voters, then loads of negotiations, the next govt will prob run a a referendum that dilutes it.

He was guessing but it makes sense to me.

I heard something on the news yesterday about the affects of BREXIT on Ireland. They were very negative, saying that it's hard to see any upside. The main points were;

- 40k jobs would be lost
- one-third of our exports to the UK would be lost.

Though this has to be bullshit. Not that I question the above 2 points, but we can surely make new trade deals, and BREXIT is bound to create as many jobs as are lost.

And I hear this morning also that Middle Eastern companies who are uncomfortable about the whole Trump-being-a-dirty-racist situation are being invited to consider Ireland as an alternative.
