this is exactly what I'm talking about. when would you ever give a band a moment of your time after your first introduction to them being a photo of their horribly unhealthy singer naked on the cover of a shit magazine talking glowingly about kate moss and designing clothes for topshop?!

much as i hate to admit it, its completely true..nothing to do with her being overweight but if i saw any chick posing naked on the front of the nme, i would take issue with them..and i think i said somethin along those lines in my first post..i am trying to kinda negotiate this knowing her feminist background but im finding it increasingly difficuly..mainly because it comes down to its only different because she isnt yr usual body shape that appear in magazines and as leigh said it does kinda have publicity whore written all over it..its probably the first time ive ever been totally in two minds about a band that i love..and i really do wish people would stop holding up beth ditto as an example as what women should be lookng like..surely thats as damaging as pointing them towards pictures of nicole richie and telling them to get there anyway they can..

i know but it just isnt right..as i said before if it was someone who was in a band i hated posing naked on the cover of the nme and talking about how amazing kate moss is i would think they were unbelievable wankers..but i always thought she was pretty deadly and when id read stuff with her before id dug it, so now it just seems i was probably wrong about her..and that is poo john..

in fairness, if kate moss was really nice to you and was your best friend/drugs buddy one night after a gig, and then the NME starts asking you all about it for some shallow article, you're hardly going to talk shit about her. anyway, what makes a better story? beth ditto hating kate moss or beth ditto saying shes amazing?

but doesnt kate moss kinda represent everything beth ditto is against..considering the articles id read with her where she talks about going into topshop and other stores and stretching out their clothes if they dont stock larger sizes..plus talking about how amazing someone is who seems to think that doing a heroin addict is the way to go doesnt seem quite right..and i dont think either story is particularly amazing..
