I gave up lent for lent about 15 years ago and stuck with it.

So many stupid days around this time of year it really is worse than Christmas. I think they could combine a couple of these days to be more efficient about it all for instance a "St Valantines chocolate egg day" and a "St Patricks pancake day" and lent could be reduced to a symbolic forty minutes.
