"Anti-semitic band" in The Lower Deck (1 Viewer)

i read an interview with GBK in 1995 i'd never really heard of them before and have only ever really seen their name written down since without any comment on them so that was my only experience of them.
at the end of the by mail interview they said something about voodoo being a 'nigger' superstition which the interview asked them to clarify in a further letter other than that i seem to remember them saying usual black metal type shit.
i can't find the zine and as i said i never gave them any thought since.sorry to hear they are still going.

found aninterview with them from few years ago. want me to puyt it up? bar one or two comments relative to this thread its largely them mocking christianity/judaism and calling other blackmetal bands gay.

its goin to be fun defending loits when they play here.

So any band that comes here with a lyrical approach to their own country's history is to be lynched without further research? Hardly surprising after reading the rubbish here.

For the record, here's a recent statement from Loits on such narrow attitudes:

Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori
BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER...

...in the very same way that everyone has their personal criteria of
truth and secret codes for evaluation of different phenomena. Thus it
is not a great surprise that Loits have received both warm welcomes
as well as been attacked with extreme propaganda. The only things
Loits show barefaced hostility towards are injustice, cynicism,
hypocrisy, ignorance and betrayal. We are far from justifying or
propagating any acts of hostility; also it is our ideological
principle not to spread negative feelings. Loits speak about the
past, the present and the future without gilding any lilies or
concealing anything. When singing about war we envision it through
the eyes of the soldier on the front; when speaking of home, a
citizen concerned with the fate of their homeland is speaking within
us. Loits do not attack or monger hatred; Loits call for respect
towards one's own country, people, history, language and culture. In
the light of all this we don't feel like we should ask for anyone
's forgiveness, nor do we feel that we owe any explanations to
anyone. Being an Estonian and proud of it is not a crime. Loits
regret nothing.

Any problems with any of that? If so, you need to get out more.

...and the Swastika was a symbol created by the SS? Right.

They sell Celtic Crosses in Carroll's, y'know?

If you think the two are mutually exclusive you are either:

A) Naive
B) An idiot
C) Disingenuous
D) All of the above

C'mon, this is almost too easy. That statement is so vague, so full of holes, so utterly evasive, it wouldn't be out of place at a White House press briefing. I have no idea which talentless bunch of guitar-noodling, scandal-courting irrelevances you represent (it doesn't really matter to me) but that's just weak, ma fren.

I went home for lunch today, but I wasnt that hungry so I just had some toast and a cup o lemsip to battle his headcold I've been harbouring for the past few days. I watched Spiderman on the telly, got so engrossed that I nearly forgot to go back to work.

I'm lost now ... who/what is "loits"?

Are the Loits a Jewish band? Sounds like a Jewish word.
No idea. Their religious beliefs are their business. The way it should be.

Honestly though, you people should check out their website - www.loits.org - in an attempt to find what you wish was there. You'll be disappointed.

Research before waffle, people...

It will be a pleasure to see Loits play here in May, and an honour to promote the Dublin gig.

Or because that's how you want to view it.
What are you trying to say exactly?

No skin off my nose btw
Nope, it's because I've taken the time to learn what I'm on about... oh, and the small matter of me knowing the band personally, therefore knowing what they're really like.

Sorry about the spelling... but there's no such word as btw. And I bet I got more 10/10s in spelling tests than you did in school :)

wow, i finally managed to get through the entire thread...my head is sore!! and the only thing that managed to still fit in my head is: What if a band called Saddam and the Suicide Bombers went touring in the states with their hit album "three planes, two towers and a one way ticket to allah" would this free speach bollocks everyone goes on about still apply?

no, I was deadly at spelling. I've gotten worse as I got older actually.

How come you know the band personally but you have "no idea" of their religious beliefs?

Its so easy to promote controversial bands, people just get sucked up into it. Think I might start a radical feminist orange order jihad band. I'll be lookin for a lambeg (or is it Lambleg?) player if anyone's up for it........
