thanks for bringing these back. My cynicism has been well and truly been put to bed (it stemmed not from their music, more from their recent no-shows). This was gig of the year for me so far. I haven't been captivated like that in a long time.

I want to be Jeremy Barnes. And I want to marry Heather Trost. Not too much to ask surely?

The performance of 'In The River' was amazing. The highlight of the show for me. And the bit at the end where they came down and performed the encore in the middle of the crowd. It was a nice touch, and the crowd were very attentive altogether.

Planxty fans would have loved this. Very reminiscent of the type of stuff they played after Andy Irvine's travels around Eastern Europe back in the day.

And I have to hand it to Jeremy Barnes for getting the crowds to abandon their seats (they were a terrible idea - it closed off the front half of the venue - and thats coming from someone who had a seat).

Chequerboard's set was lovely. Really enjoyed that. Didn't think much of the other crowd really. Drums and vocals alone is a hard one to pull off. They were very talented and all, but I got a little bored after a while.

Overall, top show. Well done everyone.

seriously? what the fcuk? Who'd want to start a fight with him? and why? Plus, hes not that small. jaysis, that is a shame. Fair play for getting it sorted.

We were sitting outside when a glass bottle smashed on the ground beside us, thrown by some drunk. Jeremy turns around and asks him why he threw the bottle at us. The young fella, who was quite drunk, said he didn't throw it at us but threw it on the ground for a laugh! Then he got a bit uppity when it was explained to him that it wasn't funny, and asked Jeremy to "step ouside" which was odd, because we were outside. Someone got a bouncher and he was escorted off the premises. He didn't like this and started squaring up to the bouncers - who really wanted to smash his face in, but couldn't. There was a tussle and then the boys in blue came along. Fin.

Ireland, take a bow. Why have we such shits in this country?

The bouncers should have given him a hiding.

fuck it anyway

It wasn't someone who was at the gig, right? Just some scumbag? Bah.

Deadly gig.. super-talented folk. And Jeremy looks very young for all that he's done!

not sure, though there is a gap in their schedule. They've a gig on the 14th. They play Dublin on the 15th, Belfast on the 16th. Next gig after that isn't til the 19th.

Pester your local friendly gig promoter to bring them down there.
