This Is Not This Heat are not This Heat, but does include the two surviving members of that band, Charles Hayward and Charles Bullen.

Having turned post-punk upside down in the late seventies and exactly 40 years to the day of their first gig in 1976, the two surviving members (Bullen and Hayward) of the experimental rock band This Heat came together with a large group of collaborators to play under the project title of THIS IS NOT THIS HEAT. In a matter of hours, the consensus was unanimous that all present had been witness to something of cultural significance. Flooded with invitations from around the world, 2017 saw THIS IS NOT THIS HEAT take to the road.

They’ll be joined for the performance by Daniel O’Sullivan of Grumbling Fur, Merlin Nova, Frank Byng, Alex Ward and James Sedwards.

NEW MUSIC DUBLIN is a partnership initiative of the National Concert Hall, RTÉ Orchestras, Quartets and Choirs, and the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon.

Taking place at the National Concert Hall and beyond, the festival programme includes concerts, world premieres, talks, walking tours, films, all-ages events and late night shows focused on new music: from classical to electronica, alt-rock to sound art, choral to experimental and much more in-between.

Now in its fifth outing, New Music Dublin 2018 has been curated by composer John Harris, who is also chief executive and artistic co-director of the Red Note Ensemble in Scotland.
