Long Gone will be released on a yet to be determined date in January via Popical Island.

Switzerland, on the verge of the release of their debut album Long Gone in January, have offered up a taster in the form of Starting Out.

Sounding like a jumped up R.E.M. this is a song that you can dance around with and hum along to. With its catchy guitar chimes, reminiscent of The Byrds, there’s elements of folk rock, classic rock and new wave via The Cars. It’s a song about finding your way in a new place and about making the most of what you have. “Starting Out” is an apt way to rein in one year, and cast out the other.

Switzerland are a Dublin-based four-piece, made up of Brian Walsh (Drunken Boat) on vocals and guitar, Al Condon (Hello Moon) on guitar and keys, Shane Murphy (Land Lovers, No Monster Club) on bass and Enda Canavan (Paddy Hanna) on drums and backing vocals.

Switzerland play upstairs at Whelan’s on January 27th.
