Young Hearts Run Free celebrate their first year on December 5th & 6th in Filmbase with David Kitt, 202’s, Jinx Lennon, 3epKano & many more, plus a screening of 140 Characters.
It will be one whole year on 5th December since we first started doing this slightly shambolic thing that we do, but the goodwill towards the whole project continues to grow, so thank you. There have been lots of lovely memories from this past year, including bringing the men Deirdre O’ Callaghan documented in her book ‘Hide That Can’ essentially ‘home’, to dancing around in basements and expounding the history of witchcraft in a church (respectfully).
We hope you will come to spend some time with us over our We Love Yule Christmas weekend on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December in Filmbase. There are lots of elements; our Young Hearts Run Free Shop from 12pm – 6pm offering cakes, food, design, fashion, and music, a talk from the Simon Community, carols and choirs, and then music over two nights from 8pm – 2am including performances by; Jinx Lennon, David Kitt, 202’s, Tender Trap, Tucan, Skinny Wolves, Brainbeat, DJ Scope, Eamonn Doyle, 3epKano, New Amusement, David Turpin, The Louisiana Six and a special screening of Areaman’s brilliant 140 Characters (http://www.140characters.ie/) with various other special guests announced nearer the time.
It is, as ever, bring your own flask of tea or whiskey, a young heart, and the ability to, as Fanny Price says in ‘Mansfield Park’ – ‘run mad as often as you choose, but do not faint.’
Hope you can make all or some of the weekend. Thank you so much for all the support this year. Let us hope that December will be like this –
because surely magic still somehow exists (don’t let the mystery go now, sparkle the dark up).
