The Redneck Manifesto, Jape, Dinah Brand + more – Benefit Gig For Sara Walsh Delaney, 1st March

The Redneck Manifesto‘s only gig of 2014 will be with Jape, Female Hercules, Dinah Brand, Badself and The Pulpit at a March 1st fundraiser for Sara Walsh Delaney in The Grand Social Sara is the wife of former Bambi frontman Ben Delaney.

In October 2011 my sister Sara, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. She was 28 years old and married for just 4 months. A biopsy had to be performed to determine what type of tumour she had and what treatment she would need. A massive brain haemorrhage occurred during the biopsy procedure and Sara had to be put into an induced coma. Over two years later Sara is still in Beaumont Hospital. She has had numerous setbacks including 4 stints in ICU. Her tumour was benign and was successfully treated with radiation therapy. She is now deemed ready to go to the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire. Because she has been inactive for such a long period she will need a massive amount of rehabilitation for both her mental and physical condition. All consultants and medical staff dealing with Sara feel she has good potential once she gets the right interventions.

Sara will only get 3 months in the NRH which is nowhere near enough. This is due to cutbacks, long waiting lists and the fact that the NRH is the only place in the Irish Republic where you can get rehabilitation. After the 3 months Sara will be brought back to Beaumont Hospital for an indefinite period.

We have travelled to the UK to look at rehabilitation facilities there. The Oxford Centre for Enablement is an NHS facility who will take Sara as a commercial patient after her stay in the NRH. The cost is £1,800/ €2,100 per day. We feel that Sara would benefit greatly by going to this place after the NRH.

Family members and friends are hoping to raise much needed funds to help towards Sara being able to go to Oxford. Any help you can give will be gratefully appreciated. Many thanks.

Ben, Sara’s husband, and his friend Jimmy Eadie, are organizing a special benefit gig for Sara.

The night itself promises be very special.We are delighted to announce that one of Ireland’s best live bands ever The Redneck Manifesto will be headlining the event. We are also lucky enough to have Jape (solo), Dinah Brand, Badself, The Pulpit and Female Hercules all on the bill. Duties will then be handed over to the Nightflight DJs to keep things moving to the early hours. Take note that Jape will be one of the first acts on, so plenty of reason to arrive there early!

There will also be a raffle on the night. Entry is included with the cost of the ticket which is €35. A detailed prize list will be up on the Facebook page prior to the gig, but for now you can expect hampers of delicious foods and wines, as well as dinner for 2 in some of Dublin’s best restaurants.

Tickets are €35 each and 350 are being made available. You can get them at Elastic Witch and The Grand Social, or take your chances at the door on the night (yeah, good luck with that).
