Saturday & Sunday – 25th/26th August 2007
Hilton Park is a country estate near Clones, County Monaghan. It s stunning 500 acres of exotic lake & woodland sits on the border with County Fermanagh, in the north. This summer, writer, Patrick McCabe and film-maker, Kevin Allen, will host the first arts festival of its kind in this striking enclave of hidden Ireland. Now that the troubles have finally subsided, the borderland is looking ahead to a happier future and this annual event will hopefully contribute to some much sought after regeneration.
Our festival will be a weekend-camping affair, held in the grounds of Hilton, engaging a wide range of arts based activities. Although a fairly low-key first year is anticipated, we intend to build up interest and infrastructure within a few years, developing it into an un-missable annual summer event and we want you to be part of it ! We have no aspirations to develop this into any kind of heaving rock fest, but we would like this to grow into a unique event where imaginative people can exchange ideas in a spectacular environment. This is a non-profit making scenario in which we wish to avoid corporate sponsorship, so we are dependant upon arts council funding. Although we ve secured the support of our local arts office, this financial support will only expand to meet our future needs if we get off to a flying start this year and this requires that you make a note in your diary right now and come.
..and feel of the event will probably evolve through our own personal network of writers & artistes – so your participation, on any level, is very welcome. Whether reading from your book, playing with your band, showing a movie, trying out a play, installing a sculpture, attending a brief Q&A in relation to any aspect of your work . or just pitching up with your kids for some fishing and boating, you re very welcome.
