The next Social Rising takes place in The Grand Social on 1st March, with Yeh Deadlies, Ana Gog & Hello Moon.
Annie, Padraig, Jonny and Dave ply a melodic indie-pop racket. Debut album ‘The First Book of Lessons’ was released last year to critical acclaim. Yeh Deadlies are founding members of the Popical Island Collective.
A tight knit group with an organic playing style it comes as no surprise that Ana Gog have variously known each other through formative school and university years. Led by multi-instrumentalist and main songwriter Michael Gallen, their distinctive sound is one forged over a number of years performing together, where an eclectic range of influences have been distilled into a captivating whole.
Chiming, jangly, fuzz pop makers, Hello Moon, formed in January 2010. Playing regularly in Dublin and with a handful of shows around Ireland they have opened for such bands as Teenage Fanclub, Cloud Control and Lower Dens. Early this year they flew to Groningen, The Netherlands to play Eurosonic 2012, Europe’s largest showcase festival. In June 2011 they contributed their song ‘Barefoot’ to the Irish, charmingly bockety, indie collective Popical Island Compilation#2. Their very first album, Only Count the Sunny Hours was released on Any Other City Records in September 2011.
