Thursday Dec 23rd 8pm sharp
The Workmans Club, 10 Wellington Quay, Dublin 2.
Thread Pulls are nearly a rock band, stripped back to a core of drums and bass. Skewed grooves anchor their hypnotic proto-disco sound – kick-drum centred and sub-bass heavy. Roughly cut vocal layers and eastern trumpet-echoes coupling solar-synth-drones bring to mind early elements of future sounds.
The dark and mysterious ‘Hunter-Gatherer, the masked electronic wunderkind and Witch House enthusiast, conjures up a haunting athmosphere of icy yet oddly uplifting melancholia that has found some secret kind of third place between home listening and the dance floor.
Hulk is Dublin artist Thomas Haugh, who uses a combination of organic and electronic processed sound with live instrumentation to produce atmospheric and expansive music, at times plaintive and brooding and at other times uplifting.
We’ve got some Osaka goodies to give away – CDs, 7″ & tickets to the gig. To enter, just email firstname.lastname@example.org with OSAKAGOODIESPLEASE as the subject & including your thumped username & your real name by midnight on Sunday 19th December.
