Captain A & The Commercial Monsters, Ed McGinley, The Prairie Dawgs – The Cobblestone, 11th August

Captain A & The Commercial Monsters make the trek to Dublin on 11th August for a rare live performance at The Cobblestone.

Captain A & The Commercial Monsters
Now graduated from ‘collective’ to ‘band’ as the members have decided that when you get called a collective, nobody gets paid. The Captain A line up has been extended to a six piece, adding drums clarinet/sax along with the staple keys, guitar, bass with a hand selected group of some of the Northwest and Dublin’s most talented and individualistic musicians. And did we mention there are four vocalists?

Currently working with a host of collaborators on the concluding ‘Dreams’ Album, the Sunshine Marauders Mini Tour aims to place brand bouncing new material alongside songs from 2011’s ‘New Country’ and for the first time live; material from 2007’s low-fi epic ‘Guerrilla Love Songs’. Though masquerading as a folk act for much of 2011, Captain A & TCM’s are best described as ‘Its hard to pin Captain A down to any one genre’.

The Prairie Dawgs
Folk and Roots group The Prairie Dawgs having recently launched their second album “Halfway to Poughkeepsie” will perform an intimate acoustic set, with a nod of the hat to Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Tom Waits, and Ella Fitzgerald, The collection includes ballads, blues, stomps, and folk blues.
