You know you're getting old.... (9 Viewers)

You know you're getting old when you can remember RTE playing this at random between shows. Proper telly.

EDIT: sounds like a remixed version of Autobahn not the original that was on the animation?

I remember thinking this was ridiculous as a kid!
Always made me laugh. I am surprised this is from 1979. Looks several years earlier. This clip often comes into my head despite not seeing it since about 1988. I only realised this was Kraftwerk later as I only knew their 80's hits.

Will watch this now and let me know what I think:

Actually I was wrong. animation was good!
There was a clip that preceded it where it showed the animator painstakingly putting it together and then looking at the camera intensely presenting the finished reel. That part was probably annoying alright.
I see he also worked on Heavy Metal.

Nicko McBrain was drumming on records for 50 odd years - Pat Travers etc.
EDIT: Fixed typos. Correction - Nicko is only 70 - sorry.
His career credits.

RTE always played this before the aforementioned video. So there must have been 20+ minutes of dead time when they'd show it.

Drugs are a helluva drug

I was assigned four people today to do the heavy lifting. I was not required to the heavy lifting. Of COURSE I could still do it, if I wanted to. Anyway my job was to "manage" and do "technical".

The two very young youngers up front with me, two older lads behind, telling them what to do and how to do it, them having done that task yesterday. Apparently the youngers wanted to be upfront doing the hard work today, wanting to learn, and the elders were like "ok, good". This was rope work btw.

Anyway, we determined that between the three of us up front, I accounted for approximately 48% of all life lived within that group.

The older lads at the back had a subtle way of teaching the "brers" (as they say here) how to be adults. It was quite good that bit. I felt young because it was a laugh, I even got the references, but realistically, I am old. I'm older than the old guys at the back.

I think neither the elders nor I wanted to break them, but to teach/show them. It was nice.

Thinking about how young the youngers were, I wanted to grab them and go "Don't ever start smoking! Get a pension! Stick your dick in crazy if you want, but don't keep it there!".

I had only bad argument ever with a nephew this afternoon. What I said was entirely warranted but when he wouldn't listen I had to ramp up to shouting three times.
Just wanted him not to eat / share chocolate in front of 4 year old who had a few minutes earlier said their tummy was a bit sore from eating lunch + most of a cup cake.
Sorry it came to this but I was completely ignored by older kid and wasn't going to let a 4 year old get sick.
Older kid got his chocolate back after young kid was gone.

I absolutely hate chocolate and sweets and have been cleaning up sweet wrappers for over 20 years from various kids.
This was first time ever I ever got angry over him eating sweets.

giving out to kids is a minefield when they're not yours. thankfully most of my friends are quite cool about that but some parents don't take kindly to it at all. i remember meeting one of the few thumpeders i know who'd gone on holidays with a bunch of couples and their kids and he was frazzled from trying to remember which kids he had to be on tenterhooks about.

I did a lot of cleaning yesterday and my hands are wrecked. I wish I lived with vegans.
The 4 y.o. kid I mentioned is very unselfish not even too bothered with sweets.
The older lad thinks I am a push over (he's right) so it must have been a shock to see me get really angry.
