Taking inspiration from 80s minimal synth / DIY bedroom electronics and the early 4AD / Factory Records / Mute Records scenes, Contact Sports evokes the ghostly sounds of Robert Rental and John Foxx's early works.
Patrick Kellehers first new release since the critically acclaimed You Look Cold album, sees a move into a more upbeat, yet dark and moody dancefloor mover.
Remix from renowned producer/engineer alalal, who's most recent work includes an acclaimed remix for Metronomy along with taking a studio seat along side Brian Eno, Paul Epworth, Ewan Pearson, Ivan Smagghe, Erol Alkan and Mark Ronson amongst others... His version of Contact Sports wouldnt sound out of place in the dark depths of a dinghy smoke filled nightclub in early 80's Berlin or NYC.

"Irish songwriter and electronic pop merchant Patrick Kelleher returns with a new 7" fronted by the ace '80s DIY synth-pop stylings of 'Contact Sports', which comes draped in gated reverb and period electric piano sounds. It's mercilessly retro and painfully zeitgeisty, but when its pulled off this well, such considerations are but trifles. The remix on the B-side comes from Alalal, renowned for production work with The Big Pink, Klaxons and The Rapture. This brings the track back into the 21st century with thumping club-friendly beats and hefty bass frequencies." - Boomkat
