I'm thinking of getting Imagine broadband for the next few months.
I want to use a wireless router cos we've got wireless laptops
Questions:
Imagine is ADSL and they recommend a LINKSYS ADSL wireless router.
What is LINKSYS?
Can most routers handle ADSL or do I have to get an ADSL Router?
Can I connect the Router directly to my ADSL connection or do I need a modem in between?
Where's the best/cheapest place to get a wireless adsl router (linksys) quickly????? (Imagine are charging €120 for their one).

Too busy at work to go research this stuff at the moment, reckon someone here is bound to know this stuff :)

i'd go for this one:

if you need one quickly try pc world or argos.

it should work fine with it. the only difficulty when using the non recommended router is that they can be difficult to configure, but it is totally doable.

router plugs directly into your phone socket. you will need a pc or mac physically connected to it to initially set it up, but once thats done you can have it beside your phone socket with no cables going anywhere. tis deadly.

the broadband forums over at boards.ie can be very helpful with this kinda thing.

where do you live, whats making you choose imagine?

also, check dabs.co.uk, they have a cool router with a free usb dongle for any machines you have that don't have a wireless card

D12.
Imagine is cheap and cheerful :) Waiting for Smart to come online which will be in maybe six months time and want something in the meantime.

do imagine do short contracts? deadly, if so

I think it's 6 month contract - the always on is €19.99 / month so it's pretty reasonable.

Depends on the router. Just make sure whatever one you go for specifically states it's got a DSL modem, or if Imagine supply you with a DSL modem then make sure it's got an ethernet connection & not USB.

Not that I've ever actually seen a DSL setup in the flesh, mind.
