I never liked REFUSED. I'd much prefer to listen to them talk about music - Denis does a music blog on YouTube. Yeah they're right, OLD LADY DRIVERS / OLD were awesome - the best thing James Plotkin has done. And old Yugoslavian punk etc. bands were great.

EDIT: I saw that clip of the early 80's synth band MEGAMEN over 15 years ago but could never remember their name. They were Aussies playing a telethon thing in Brisbane about 1983. it's quite funny.

I don’t like ‘em either, but indeed some refreshing pics in there.

2nd and 3rd OLD records are still unique. There's been loads of sludge bands for 35 years. A lot of it is a bit too musicianship orientated for my primitive tastes.

I don’t think Khanate ever fit in with any other band. Neither did OLD but the low and slow approach is much more my speed.

When i was out in a villiage in spain people were at a wedding, all completely trashed, spanish uncle types hanging off the bar, the bride sitting having heart to hearts in the patio, various kids running about and all the rest, i shazamed the song they were all singing on the dancefloor

I'm listening to some Alien sex fiend & Fields of the Nephilim on the headphones in work.
Doesn't hold up as much as some of the other goth bands....but it has mystique & its from a bygone era when bands mattered.

We've moved on to The Groundhogs. Listening to Thank God For The Bomb and Split.

Saw the Groundhogs in I think 2000 at arfs guitar festival. First song was a dull slowish blues tune,the into eccentric man and they went ballistic. Way better than it should have been.

Walked most of the way back to Belfast and it didn't even bother us.
