The podcast "100 songs that define heavy metal" did an episode on Armored Saint. It was basically a show about how good the album sounds. So I listened to that album, Symbol or Salvation. It sounds horrible. The song wasn't good at all.

Yes. I had the jaw-dropping pleasure of seeing them around ‘98. For me, experimental noise rock (for want of a better description) only works if the band really really really know what they’re doing and can do anything. These guys had it in spades.
Good lord, fair play!! That's one to tell the grandkids about.
