Hey:)
babysitters are in short supply - so yes...

i would NEVER get like that (above) in front of your child. offer still stands :)

anyway now that i'm painfully sober - kramer vs kramer - love that movie. especially when teh kid is being really bold and hoffman loses his rag.

waking life - sooooooooooo lovely to look at. i like that some of the stuff is incredibly profound and yet you won;t lose the whole meaning of the film if you zone out for a minute.

Been a week of old pre-Studio Ghibli Isao Takahata/Hayao Miyazaki stuff: over the weekend, I watched the first series (1971) of Lupin III, then Miyazaki's '78 TV series Future Boy Conan, and last night the two Panda Kopanda! films from '72 and '73.

All very highly recommended if you like their stuff.

Exiles /Exils

about a couple taking a trip to algeria to follow the route their parents would have taken as exiles. only in the opposite direction.

and it was really good

the trance scene was pretty intense (the older lady..) a snippet of the music - http://www.mcm.net/musique/player/21841/

exils.jpg

I also watched Ghosts

ghosts_poster.jpg

it was based around the lives of the 23 chinese people who drowned picking cockles in Morecombe Bay. It was casted with all non-actors - some with life stories close to the movie. It was the most unsettling film I'd watched in a while.

There is a fund set up to help pay off the debts of the people who died because the families are too poor to pay and the british and chinese governments refuse to intervene.

oooh, those both look good, will have to check them out. that cocklepicker story is very sad - we ran a yarn about the financial difficulties their familes are facing as a result 2 weeks ago, think it was syndicated from an english paper....very sad. :(
