I believe (and I should know this as we've done loads of work for them but I've never eaten there) that it's a South African owned chain that does Portuguese style chicken (lots of peri peri sauce). Fast food but seen as a bit more up market than Burger King/KFC/McDonalds etc.

I think @Lili Marlene is right though, here it's just a restaurant chain in the UK it seems like more of a cultural phenomena. People talk about it like Nigel Hawthorne talked about going to Taco Bell in Demolition Man.

I generally don't give a flying feck about chickens.
Except when I get a big bowl of wings and every one has the same bone broken cos they've all had their wings clipped and I think of their short, cruel lives. And then I get a bit angry at the chicken for bumming me out.

My cousin from South Africe was visiting Dublin last year, the first thing he did here was to find out where the Nando's was to try it out.
