Great work on the vocals, all the mutlitracking, pitching and glitchy editing and shit. .|..|

Were the guitar chords melodyned the shit out of as well?

Cheers Pissypants...I only melodyned the acoustic guitars on the outro (the part that keeps going higher and higher).

Apart from that, as an experiment, I robbed a MIDI version of the song off t'internet, re-arranged it into 4 single note lines and painstakingly recorded those lines twice (8 guitar tracks in total), sight reading the MIDI notes. I thought it might create an interesting 'wide chord' effect with each guitar line spread out over the full pan spectrum. To be honest, it made little difference in the mix, and if I had used the MIDI notes to play an acoustic guitar sample, it probably would have sounded as just as 'real'! But hey, trial and error.

In the last chorus, I timestretched some of the acoustic guitar notes, to give them that digital stretched sound, as well as cutting and pasting a few bits to create a different rhythm.

Wow - vocals on this are amazing !, disco's great innit !,
wish i'd done a disco version now ! :(

Thanks Crumb, I had great intentions of sticking a darker glitchy beat on it... try to be cutting edge, and all... but in the end I succumbed to the sprit of Earth Wind and Fire, and once I threw that hi-hat disco beat on it, there was no looking back!

yeah it was moreso the guitar you read off the MIDI I was talking about.
I knew there was something going on there but couldn't quite figure out what you'd done. I could hear something strange with the voicings, but that explains it. Good work.

The quality of these recordings is fucking ballistic. Its why I've managed to not finish one of these challenges.

Erm.... Elton is grand, but, Thomas Dunnings next Hoot Night has the theme of Elton vs Drugs, ( i've already started learning the elton song for us) so i dunno if there is a conflict there ...?, what do ye think ?, maybe it won't make any difference....??

How about a Phil Spector theme? Or Elvis Costello?

Even better for you...You can record the song and lip synch at the Hoot night!

Others offerings being deadly shouldn't stop you joining in the furn..so in the interest of fairness i'm posting my atrocious 'cut' of Joe Jacksons Different For Girls...so that you may muse 'Thats fuckin dreadful..sub-atrocious...I'm posting mine forthwith'

I am a very lazy man and I think that shines thru this effort tho shines not too much...coz I'm that lazy

btw I thought Heyworthington was suggesting doing the Magnetic Fields in a former challenge...thats got my lazy vote over Meltin John..either way I'll throw something up...mmm vomit......

don't have time to do it now but if someone PMs me the links i'll upload them all here again

So is this the lot for this challenge?...I hope the first 2 in the list are right because I haven't heard them yet (Work started blocking mediafire recently )...
