It’s some manner of division/subsidiary of Volvo. A relative worked for polestar for a while and they were VERY keen not to be associated with Volvo.
You're no volvo
the wikipedia entry for polestar states they're still nearly 50% owned by volvo. They no longer have anything to do with them.
They were a sub brand but all they took is a minor design influence.
Safety and build quality of polestar is not as good as Volvo

One way to look at it.
If you buy a polestar is it a Volvo with different bling, or is it 100% a different chassis, drive train and factory.
Because like if you were buying a Volvo in recent years ( @Deadmanposting ) you are largely buying a ford engineered thing*
*Then of course ford subbed out engine design to mitsubishi at times....

I've debated it on boards. The usual complaint is 'sometimes I need to accelerate beyond the limit to avoid a potential hazard' and it does strike me like that special pleading of 'sometimes wearing a seatbelt makes you more likely to be injured' you occasionally hear.
I need to get a replacement wiper linkage. I've seen them online for around 50 quid. One place told me I need to get a genuine part from Renault so I called a place in Dublin. They rang me today to give me a quote for parts and labour. Within seconds it had gone up to almost 600 euro.
