Playing The Village in Dublin on February 10th...

they got no. 1 in the pitchfork albums of 2003

Then may I suggest you avoid the village on the 10th, I'm sure that won't be that hard for you.

I really don't get what all the fuss is about with them

I've heard they're good live, but i also heard that the kings of leon were supposed to be good live, as were slipknot and none of that was true.
Listened to the album a couple of times and it did absolutly nothing for me.

I like the album, but I can see where you are coming from. The thing about the album is that a lot of the tracks have been recorded with the DFA as co-writers (this is why it was released 6 months later than it should have been) so live they are a different prospect.

The rapture - the black eyes its not cool to like.

DFA have helped them forge a new sound, but they were well able to make exciting music before they collaborated with them - I saw them after Out of the Races And Onto the Tracks came out when they had just added a saxophonist and it was thrilling stuff.

i heard a funny story about the rapture; that they were a bet.
more specifically, that with money, publicity and the right producers a record company could make any shit band popular.
Wasn't that Vanilla? So they said on the top 100 worst pop singles thing on channel 4 there a while back...
