The Murder of Rosa Luxemburg (2002-?)
The Murder Of… we’re born in Worcester over the summer of 2002 by seven musicians bored of the constraints of their local music scene. Quickly gaining a reputation for their frantic live shows, the Murder Of set about recording their first set of songs. Recorded in one afternoon, these songs became the first TMORL 7”, released on Speedowax Records.
By the summer of 2003, the opportunity had arisen to record a debut album. ‘Everyone’s in Love and Flowers Pick Themselves’ was recorded and engineered by Joe Gibb, and released in the winter of that year by Undergroove records. The album was recorded as a concept, following the tales of an old man, battling with his conscious and subconscious during his final years.
2003 also saw The Murder Of… embark on their first tour, with Million Dead and Jarcrew, followed swiftly by a full UK tour with Army of Flying Robots.
In the present day, and line up changes later, The Murder Of are in the process of writing for a new 7” to be released over the summer. Taking a more melodic, jazz influenced line, a tour has just been completed in the UK with Circle Takes the Square (as well as support slots to Lightning Bolt and Hella), with future tours of Ireland, Europe, as well as a full tour in the Autumn with Minus the Bear. The band also hope to start work on their second full length album later on in the year.
MORL have also shared the stage with the likes of:
Cat On Form, Vuur, Narcosis, Wolves, Transistor Transistor, Paper Cut Out, Kaospilot, The Paper Chase, Keelhaul, etc etc etc..
