So Janer's definition of punk is questioned yet again, what a surprise.

What is pure punk anyway? Is it like the master race of punk?

I gotta laugh at most of you lot, not even around when it came out, Most of yas are not working class but Uni/Collage PC middle class snobs.
You listen to numerous other music genres....who are you to comment on what Punk is?
I have my version of what I think Punk is, do you really think I care what others think or say?
30 years on.....I obviously didn't.

well clearly you know even less about me than you do punk rock

so are you saying modern punk can't be pure punk?
if your talking about older style punk their loads of modern bands playing that style that piss all over the exploited!

I was referring to what people call Punk these days, Crust/HC.

In my day it was just Punk or New Wave, these days it's just confusing.

Exploited had 2-3 great albums and yes it was a long time ago.

As for what I would call "Pure Punk" I have seen lots of modern "Pure Punk" and loved it.

What he said.

also something interesting ive heard more than once bout wattie is that when they signed to sony(or possibly some "indie" owned by sony) wattie signed a contract that stated he had to have a bright red mohawk of no less than 3 inches at all times.pure punk indeed

Don't worry we laugh at you too.
Nobody actually cares what anybody thinks punk is.
It's like sitting around talking about girls you fancy the most.
It's such a shame you were too punk to actually go to gigs until recently.

We were all middle class punk snobs forever going to gigs while Janer sat at home watching Blind Date and Casualty.

McGonagles - Sitting at Home
Old Chinaman - Sitting at Home
Fusion Bar - Sitting at Home
Charlies - Sitting at Home

The Temple - Ventured out of the gaff, squinting at the sun
Some time after, an internet connection was set up.
...and thus a legend was born and we were told we weren't punk enough.

I could say the same about you......
McGonagles......wheres Oly?
Dandelion market.....wheres Oly?
Grand hall, Cabra wheres Oly?
SFX, wheres Oly?

bla bla bla
and don't gimmie the excuse you wern't born ;p

Wattie is a squaddie cunt.
Exploited are a crossover metal thrash band.
End of story.

He might've been, but it probably was the only job a working class lad from Edinburgh could get back in the grin 70's/80's?

I agree with you that they were a crossover metal band, especially from the early 90's to 2000, but there last album Fuck the System is definitely a full on punk album.

Where do you stand on Irish free state troops who backed up the British army along the border?
An excellent point.
If the Irish Free State Troops had a metal crossover thrash band and grew mohawks I wouldn't pay to see their band.
And I'd tell everyone that they weren't punk.
Any more questions?

Why'd you take McGonagles out of Oly's post and stick it in yours? Are you saying you were there and he wasn't?

If I were you I would have constructed an intricate web of lies and pretended I was in a coma from birth to 2001.
There can be no other way to overcome the gutwrenching embarrassment of not having been a punk until my 40s.
