The Dublin Event Guide (1 Viewer)

ah no. I love the event guide.

Anyone got any ideas on how to save it?

::: THE EVENT GUIDE RIP :::

The Event Guide, the listings free-sheet which littered
Temple Bar every two weeks for what seemed like centuries has ceased printing. Although it occasionally featured gigs that were at least a year out of date and had terrible design, it was nonetheless as much a part of
Dublin as the smell of vomit on Grafton St on a
Saturday morning and will be missed by anybody who
ever wasted an afternoon in town. Founded in 1984, it was run by a decent man called Kieran Owens who was
universally liked around town and it outlasted any similar
title by years.
It stopped printing for the same reason
everybody else is going out of business: the credit crunch.
However it will continue online at www.eventguide.ie.

Breeding ground for some good journos: Leagues, Mick Heaney, Jim Carroll, Alan O'Boyle, Jazz Corners column.

Used to unmissable!

fucking terrible pity, 25 years - even more of an institution than Road by that measure.

as a graduate from Kieran Owens' school of journalism myself, it carries extra sadness

Massively sad to hear about this. so many publications have come and gone while the Event Guide was reassuringly always there, always free and always eager to profile Ireland's interesting cultural exploits. There's a cool little legacy there from the late Conor Owens to Darragh and Kieran, all the writers and editors, and the living legend that is Joan, right up to the current writers, especially the lovely Siobhán Kane. I hope the online version is a huge success.

Fitzsimons must have pulled that full page ad that they always had at the back.

The music interviews were always really good. I'll have to buy something to read for bus journeys home from town now.
