We do this every year and it typically only serves to cause arguments and to remind us what gigs were actually on, as opposed to determining what the gig of the year was.

Anyway, I'll start. I reckon it was a semi-decent year for gigs. There wasn't the same volume of top-notch gigs, but thats ok so long as the ones that are on are decent.

For me some of the most notables were;

- Sufjan in the Olympia.
- Bill Callahan in the Academy
- Retarded Cop album lauch in the workmans (that was a lot of fun).
- Land Lovers album launch in Crawdaddy.
- Joanna Newsom in Marlay Park.
- Pulp at Electric Picnic
- Le Galaxie at Electric Picnic
- Tirrannieasaur at Electric Picnic
- Phosphorescent in the Workmans
- Bonny Prince Billy in Whelans.

and as I write that list, one year starts to blur into the next and I can tell different years apart and can't be sure if those gigs all happened this year, or if other gigs I'm thinking of happened this year or not.

Of those the ones I enjoyed most would be Joanna Newsom and Pulp.

Worst gig of the year for me was Morrissey in Vicar St.

for various reasons i didn't get out much this year, but jesus Sufjan Stevens was incredible.

Jello Biafra in The Button Factory. I was stone cold sober and up the front for the whole thing. A rare experience for me

CW Stoneking in The Workmans Club- amazing band, amazing atmosphere

Glen Campbell at the National Convention Centre-- poignant

Adam Ant in Vicar Street- great fun, nice to see him back in the saddle

I think I enjoyed it as much for the kid's reaction. She had a blast and wouldn't leave.

Cheap Trick in the Olympia was by far the best.

Notable mentions to Adam Ant in Vicar Street and Hell in the pint. I went to fuck all gigs this year and don't feel like I missed much.

Dean Wareham plays Galaxie 500 (Workman's Club)
Oneohtrix Point Never (Button Factory)
VisionAir (EP)
Girls Names (Hello Operator)
Barn Owl (The Joinery)
Solar Bears (EP)
Bill Callahan (The Academy)
Caribou (Forbidden Fruit)
HEALTH (EP)

I didn't see you, or her, at that but I got a huge kick out of seeing Mark's boy bopping away to Land Lovers. On the subject of that day Squarehead and Tieranniesaur's sets were amongst the best things I saw all year.
Josh T. Pearson in the Workman's was great
Pulp at primavera.
Deerhunter in the Button Factory
Owen Pallett in Whelans.
Caribou at Primavera
OFWGKTA in the acadamy, more for witnessing the chaos than for the music.
Dean Wareham plays G500
Why?

Missed so many gigs this year as family life takes it toll! I was lucky enough to go to Supersonic and Alva Noto at that was probably the best thing i saw all year. Other notables:

Cian Nugent album launch in Button Factory
Barn Owl at the Joinery
Oneohtrix Point Never in Button Factory
Earth in Button Factory

This was the first time in years that i haven't seen The Ex so someone please bring them back over in 2012. Best live band ever!

I didn't see you, or her, at that

ha, i found a comfy chair for a good portion of it...

This was a big hit with the kid:

Erm..didnt get out much but I did get to see Glen Campbell in the Gleneagle...was class and rather educational.
Actually Jello in Roisin's was also class and very educational too.

I saw Groom a couple of times and they are just awesome everytime.

Oh!Big Monster Loves LP launch was the best gig of the year for me.Was a very joyous sound in that room.

I wasn't at too many either.

Roy Harper in clonakilty - fantastic, contender for best gig ever (rivalled only by one or two other harper gigs i've been to)
Van der Graaf Generator in glasgow
Van Dyke Parks in Button Factory
Iris DeMent in Headford
Id M Theft Able in the joinery
