The 'Bands I don't Get' thread (6 Viewers)

I love Born Slippy but never listened to them beyond that. From that era I love the Prodigy (because they were the first real band I got into), Orbital, Squarepusher, Autechre (even if I had a bad gig experience), and Thomas Köner for that way more ambient feeling. It all overlapped with stuff like Nine Inch Nails, Coil, Atari Teenage Riot, and the little bit of noise I could track down (Merzbow mainly).

I was never an Underworld fan apart from this classic

But the missus likes them and I must admit they've really grown on me over the last couple of years. Some fantastic tunes in their back catalogue.

I like that. It’s how you’d want New Order to sound in the 90s.

Violent Femmes, as best as I can tell all of their songs is that exact same song.

Those two don't have a xylophone. Hard to work out how they went from this to being a country roots band.

more digression:
Two guys were at the heart of story - Jerome Brish and Richard LaValliere from 1972/73 onwards. Jerome Brish who was 6'9'' fronted a Stooges influenced band in that era (w/ James Chance on sax) before the duo formed THE HASKELS.
The story peters out in mid 80's when 21 becomes the drinking age.

A lot of bands are covered, so important bands like DIE KREUZEN aren't given a huge amount coverage.
Electronic experimental artist Richard Franecki and F/i don't get mentioned at all. Franceki's later band VOCOKESH started in 1989 after era covered. BOY DIRT CAR are included though.

Other parts of Wisconsin aren't covered e.g. Butch Vig, MECHT MENSCH / TAR BABIES (Madison) and Rev Norb (Sick Teen zine) and SUBURBAN MUTILATION from Green Bay etc.

2xCD comp. of era:
